MRS. KELLY PAULING, ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

Kelly Pauling is the Assistant Superintendent at Salisbury Township School District with over 20 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, school improvement consultant and staff development leader. Kelly previously served as the district’s Director of Teaching and Learning. Her work focuses on actualizing the district’s vision for teaching and learning, modernizing the curriculum, and oversight of federal programs.

Prior to coming to Salisbury Township, Kelly served as the Director of Professional Development Strategy and Design at Discovery Education, an educational technology company specializing in digital content. Kelly led the professional development design team in crafting relevant and meaningful learning experiences for educators across the US, Canada, and Egypt.

Before working in the educational technology industry , Kelly served for six years as Director of Curriculum Services and two as Assistant Director for Curriculum Services at Colonial Intermediate Unit 20, in Easton, Pennsylvania. The role included increasing levels of local and statewide leadership in adolescent literacy, school improvement, inclusive practices and professional development. Prior to that appointment, Kelly worked as a teacher of the Deaf and hard of hearing at several schools for the Deaf as well as an inter-district classroom.

Kelly is passionate about student achievement, especially in the context of fostering curiosity and a love of learning and believes in the power of collaboration to build a culture that values innovation and continuous improvement.

Assistant Superintendent Performance Objectives for 2024-2025 School year:

  • Strong Core Instruction 

    • Develop a 3 Year K-8 Math improvement plan

      • The plan will be informed by analysis of student performance data, stakeholder input, and recommendations by outside consultants.

      • The action plan will include specific measurable goals, targeted professional development, and recommendations including but not limited to staffing, scheduling, targeted professional development, curricular resources, and instructional strategies.

  • Facilities and Finance

    • Contingency planning 

      • During the budget process for 25-26, identify a contingency plan in the event we receive more or less state funding.

    • Forecasting

      • Develop a 5 Year financial forecast for Salisbury Township School District.

Assistant Superintendent Performance Objectives for 2023-2024 School year:

  1. The Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with the Leadership Team to reflect on the strategies implemented to improve strong core instruction. The Superintendent will deliver a report to the Board by June 30, 2023.

  2. The Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with the Leadership Team to reflect on the strategies implemented to improve intervention services at SES and SMS. The Superintendent will deliver a report to the Board by June 30, 2024.

  3. The Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with the Leadership Team to implement strategies implemented to promote parent engagement. Strategies will be shared via the monthly Superintendent report, community newsletters, or Board Updates.

  4. The Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with the Leadership Team to communicate the strategies implemented for transition to updated PA Science Standards.  Action steps will be shared through the monthly Teaching and Learning updates, community newsletters, or board updates.

  5. The Superintendent will continue to strengthen the finances and the facilities of the district to address long standing issues, through the collaboration and supervision of the CFO.

2022-23 Performance Objectives

  1. The Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with the Leadership Team to reflect on the strategies implemented to improve strong core instruction. The Superintendent will share information with the Board by June 30, 2023.

  2. The Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with the Leadership Team to reflect on the strategies implemented to improve intervention services at SES and SMS. The Superintendent will share information with the board by June 30, 2023.

2021-22 Performance Objectives

  1. Based on input from building leaders and teachers, the Assistant Superintendent will present a recommendation for a new English Language Arts program and a transition plan to the board for approval by March 31, 2022.

  2. The Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with the instructional leadership team and professional staff to create culminating activities aligned to Salisbury Township’s Profile of a Graduate for implementation during the 2022-23 school year at each building by March 31, 2022.

  3. The Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with the instructional leadership team and professional staff to create a minimum of three informational programs designed to engage parents/caregivers in Salisbury’s curriculum expectations by April 30, 2022.

  4. Pending PA approval of standards, the Assistant Superintendent will collaborate with the instructional leadership team to present a plan for adoption and implementation of updated science standards by June 30, 2022.
