Catching up with Salisbury graduate Colby Kulig What is your full name? Colby Alexander Kulig When did you graduate from Salisbury? 2012 What have you been doing since you graduated from Salisbury? After graduating I attended Northampton Community College for two years and continued to play baseball. I then transferred to DeSales University to study Sports and Exercise Physiology and graduated in 2016. During my two years at DeSales and continued to play baseball. After undergrad worked at Robbins Rehabilitation, a local Physical Therapy clinic, before starting graduate school at DeSales in 2017. I am set to graduate in the fall with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I try to stay involved with baseball as much as possible. I helped coach JV Baseball in 2017 with Steve Wagner and Tyler Tocci and last year I started umpiring for the PIAA. I am engaged to my high school sweetheart, Kait Wisser, and we will be getting married in June 2021. What are your summer plans? I will be starting my last internship in June before graduating in the fall while studying for my board exams. Hopefully we can find some time to go to the beach too. What have you learned through this pandemic? This has been a reminder that everyone has a different perspective and not one person is right or wrong but learning to respect everyone is what is most important. On a less serious note, I learned that all the textbooks that I have accumulated in my seven years of college were never more useful than now because they can be used as weights for home workouts. What was your favorite high school memory? It is easily the 2011 baseball season. We won districts and played for the state championship in State College. I will definitely never forget that season. What is your favorite movie or TV show and why? Anything created or produced by Michael Schur (The Office, Brooklyn 99, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place), but especially The Office. I love the dry sense of humor, awkwardness, and ridiculous characters. How is your younger brother Evan doing? Evan is doing great! He graduated in 2018 from Moravian College where he played baseball as well and had a much better career than I ever could have. He is starting to get into coaching. This past season, although abbreviated obviously, he coached baseball at Muhlenberg College. Next season (hopefully) he will go back to Moravian and coach baseball there. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would you choose and why? Jackie Robinson usually comes to mind when I am asked this question. I believe he embodies what a real life hero looks like. Outside of the amazing baseball stories that I am sure he could tell, his life story is something I would love to learn so much more about. Who is your role model and why? I don’t know if I could say there is one specific person. I like to take bits and pieces from different people and try to make that into my own. My sarcastic sense of humor I get from my dad and kindness from each of my parents. I try to stay open minded about things and hear different perspectives. Also some of my grad school professors have had a big impact as far as making sure I am in a position to be a really good PT someday. Overall, just anyone that I can learn anything from. #yoursalisbury
